3-6 Heath Extended Day

Wish Days
During the month of February and March, 3-6 teachers will be granting wishes.  During January, each student chose a wish to have a “special” day at extended day.  Students either chose one from the given list or created their own (with teacher approval).  From electronics day to special cooking days (students who chose this day, got to choose what to cook) to helping out in the younger classrooms to movie day, students picked a wish that is of most interest to them.  We have scheduled each child’s wish on a day that he/she attends.  All students can participate in other students wish days.  They understand that if they are absent on their wish day, we will try our best to do a make up on another day, but depending on the wish, could take some time to make it up.  There will be a calendar posted on the 3-6 information board with all scheduled wish days.  Please look for notes and reminders regarding wish days so that your child doesn’t miss out!   Please take note of information regarding specific wish days.

Electronics Day Wish Days. Students are allowed to bring in an electronic from home (as long as they have permission from you).  They must keep the electronic in their backpacks during the school day and will only be permitted to use it after the regular scheduled homework time.  Electronics can include but are not limited to: Ipod, Ipad, Itouch, DS.  Cell phones will not be permitted, even if they have games on them.

Cooking Day Wish Days.  Most students that chose a cooking day have requested recipes from home.  Please have your child bring in the recipe as soon as possible so that we can plan to get all the ingredients needed.  We will let you know if your child chose a recipe from home.

Sports Day Wish Days.  We would love for 3-6 to show their spirit on sports wish days.  Students who chose this wish day also got to pick the sport that they wanted to play.  We have soccer day, football day, hockey day and capture the flag day.  We encourage all students to wear any sports apparel they may have to go along with the sport of the day.

We will remind your child about upcoming wish days and encourage students and families to look at the wish day calendar of events!

New faces in the 3-6 Classroom
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome two new teachers to the 3-6 classroom.

Katrin Reeder will join the 3-6 teaching team on Monday and and Wednesday afternoons.  Katrin is a student at Wheelock College and spent the first half of the year as a teacher in the Kindergarten extended day classroom.

Jeanette Jarvis will join the 3-6 teaching team on Thursday and Friday afternoons.  Jeanette (Jenny) is also a Wheelock student and taught in the Kindergarten extended day classroom as well.

They look forward to working with the 3-6 students and they will be a wonderful addition to the team!

Wheelock interns will also be working in the 3-6 classroom.  As part of their Human Growth and Development course, Wheelock students need to fulfill 30 hours in a field placement working with school age students.  Each day, one or two students will be in the classroom working with and observing the students.
