New and Old

  • Though the weather has been very unpredictable (sunshine, rain, sleet, wind, snow) 2/3 Green have been sticking to our schedule; finishing goals, learning about Today in History, skating at Larz Anderson Park and sharing stories from our day. Here are some of the highlights from the past month:
  • In January, our group really took to Jeopardy and Kahoot! - two games we have been playing, as a team, using the projector in our upper extended day room. Here are 2 examples of the past quizzes that incorporate history, trivia about friends on our team, Star Wars facts, questions about Massachusetts  and more.
Jeopardy: https://www.jeopardy.rocks/heathschool
Kahoot!: https://play.kahoot.it/#/k/54b5014f-5e55-4187-ac75-a627d2d1b718
  • Some of the goals we were able to complete this past month included Eli’s goal to bake a double-decker chocolate cake and decorate it with friends while watching Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Saige completed her goal to create a lesson plan, worksheet, presentation and activity to share with the team as if she was a classroom teacher. As a result we all learned some interesting facts about mammals and got to see Saige’s amazing teaching skills.
  • Green team was also given the option to go see the 4 / 7 team’s production of an Adventure’s of Tintin story. The show was amazing, and very humorous- our kids were impressed and we hope that 4/7 go on to do many more!

Today in History
  • Some of the January history highlights included the birth of Edgar Allan Poe, Michael Jordan’s retirement, the New York premier of the Phantom of the Opera, and the creation of the children’s story Gerald McBoing Boing.

Repeat Reminders:
PLEASE provide your child with appropriate outdoor clothing.  Children need boots, gloves, hats/mittens and warm jackets.  We do not allow the children go on the field if they do not have boots or snow pants.  In addition, it may be helpful to supply your child with an extra set of clothes (socks, pants...)

Please sign your child out each and every day!  This is a legal document and needs to be completed by you on a daily basis.
Remember to encourage your children to bring a book they find interesting to read during homework time. Our friends will often mention that they have already looked at the books we have on our shelves and want something specific that they saw during the school day/they have at home.

Thanks!
Josh & Nick
