First Grade April News

Welcome to April - Hopefully, Spring is finally here!  In March, we enjoyed reading a Dr. Seuss book every day and worked on creating rhyming words just like the rhyming master himself, Dr. Seuss. We enjoyed some Dr. Seuss themed snacks such as one fish two fish jello, “cat in the hat” kabob” made out of bananas and strawberries and of course the children made Green Eggs and Ham.  The children in the class also made Oobleck after reading "Bartholomew and the Oobleck."  All of these activities challenged the children to read, follow directions, and practice mathematical skills such as creating patterns and measuring.

During the month of April, the children are going to start “zipping” around the world while they learn about each continent and the animals that live there, and the culture of the people whom live on continent.  The children will start working on their end of year projects, which they are going to be eager to share with you in June.

The Children  have enjoyed having special readers come to our class every Tuesday, so this will continue for the remainder of the year..
Please check our “shout out” board in the hall by the Multi-purpose Room, the children have been spending time observing other children’s acts of kindness.   
 A couple of reminders:
Please sign your child out EVERYDAY!
Please make sure your child is dressed in layers, as we want them to be comfortable while playing outside everyday.
All belongings left at extended will be taken to the lost and found at the end of each day.

Early Release and No School Dates:
Friday, 4/3: No School
Tuesday, 4/15: Early Release Day
Monday- Friday, 4/20-4/24 - April Vacation
Tuesday, 4/28: Early Release Day
