 OCTOBER We hope all of you are getting back into the routine of school. This first month has been a great success! We have really enjoyed reconnecting with your children and hearing all the fun stuff they did this summer. We started off the year creating a time capsule, listing all our favorites and entering information to complete our “Me Books”. We hope to look back at both these projects at the end of the school year and see how we’ve changed. We have had fun exploring with aerodynamics and plan to continue making Science fun in the upcoming months. As a class we have spent a great deal of time getting to know one another and learning how to be a good friend. We will continue to improve on using our words to express our emotions and learn strategies to solve conflict. Our class has celebrated two of the children’s birthdays in September on the 23rd with a birthday bash! The children had fun decorating and eating cupcakes! This month we will get into the Fall season and explore with leaves. We will discover who helps our community and visit the Fire Station on October 11th. Please remember to return your child’s permission slip, so that they may join us. We will be learning about Christopher Columbus and his voyage to the new world in celebration of Columbus Day. We will get into the spirit of Halloween by learning about owls, spiders skeletons and pumpkins. The 1st grade Extended Day will have a Halloween Party on Thursday, October 31st so please have your child bring a costume to change into after school. A couple of reminders this month…… * Please sign your child out EVERYDAY! * No School on October 14th for Columbus Day Wish List Recyclables (egg cartons, paper towel rolls, tissue boxes, etc…) Clorox Wipes Baby Wipes Paper towels Small pumpkins for decorating Warmly, Sofia, Emily and Katrin
