 May in Kindergarten
Extended Day We hope everyone had a wonderful April! Just 42 more days of school left! We are having fun learning about the United States! We met a lobster from Maine, made fresh guacamole and salsa from the southwest, created a tornado and built a skyscraper, taller than the teachers! We have been exploring National Parks and discovering what makes them so special and protected. The children got very creative and made some wonderful crafts, representing different states. Our class celebrated five of the children’s birthdays in April on the 25th with a birthday bash! The children had fun decorating birthday cards and eating “Statue of Liberty” cupcakes! This month we will continue learning about the United States. We will create our own Grand Ole Opry and have a southern BBQ for the Southeast. We will celebrate Mardi Gras and discover the difference between crocodiles and alligators for the Deep South. We will play baseball and create with clay during our week of the Midwest and Great Lakes. Finally we will have our own rodeo and discover Old Faithful when learning about the West. The last week of May will be devoted to having each child create their own National Park using a variety of recyclable materials. We look forward to displaying these at our end of the year party on June 3rd!
